Who by marriage only
swears what cannot
be broken with words,
that later spoken
bears more recent truth,
and fords the hope
of youth and love
once spent in ecstasy
(beyond the scope
of mortal arms
now sorry of
their eager grip),
to reach the heaven
of a true belief,
and not the current hell
of love’s relief?
